This one was a big job - and we tackled it in phases. First up was the barn. The old roofing material was completely stripped down to the original wood decking, and what we found underneath told the whole story. Years of wear had taken their toll, and this roof was well past due for a full replacement.
Once the tear-off was done, we laid down a solid layer of underlayment across the entire surface before the new shingles went on. That step matters more than most people realize. Underlayment acts as a secondary moisture barrier - it's your backup if anything ever gets past the shingles. Skipping it or cutting corners there is how you end up with leaks and rot down the road.
The crew worked the full pitch of that gambrel-style roof with safety lines in place the whole time. A steep barn roof is not the place to improvise. Every person on this job was harnessed and clipped in, which is just how we operate. Safety on the job site protects our guys and it protects the property.
With the new shingles down and the job wrapped up, the barn went from a worn-out eyesore to something solid and protected again. And this is only part one - the house is up next. We'll share more from this project as we keep moving.
